Uploading the wrong size means Instagram crops your photo, or compresses it until it looks soft. Use these dimensions and you'll stay sharp and framed the way you intended.

Resize in bulk
- Open the image resizer and drop all your photos.
- Select a preset like Instagram · Portrait.
- Choose Crop to fill to fill the frame from the centre, or Fit inside to keep the whole photo.
- Click Resize and Download all.
Each file name includes its new dimensions, so you'll always know which version is which.
Portrait vs square
Portrait (4:5) posts take up more of the screen in the feed than squares, which usually means more attention. Use portrait for photos of people and products.
Keep quality high
Instagram recompresses everything you upload. Uploading at exactly 1080 px wide gives its compressor the least work to do. Keep quality around 90% in the resizer; you don't need to compress further for social media.
Carousel tip
All slides in a carousel take the shape of the first one. Resize every slide with the same preset in one batch so they match perfectly.
