Why BGFixer

Built for real work, not just demos

Tuned for this job

Opens with the best preset already selected, with live preview as you adjust.

Bulk conversion

Convert a whole folder with one setting and download every SVG in a ZIP.

Cut-machine ready

Cutout layering gives non-overlapping paths for Cricut, Silhouette and lasers.

Private

Tracing runs in your browser with WebAssembly — nothing is uploaded.

Why JPGs need special treatment

JPEG compression adds faint blocks and halos around edges. A naïve tracer turns each of those into a tiny shape, producing a messy, oversized SVG. The Remove specks control discards those fragments, and Colour detail merges near-identical shades so your vector stays clean.

Settings that work for JPG to vector

  • Logos saved as JPG: Logo preset, Remove specks 6–10.
  • Scanned sketches: Line art preset for pure black and white.
  • Photos: Photo preset, then lower Colour detail for a poster look.
  • If the JPG has a background, remove it first with the background remover.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a JPG to a vector?

Drop the JPG above, choose a preset, raise Remove specks to clean up compression noise, and click Download SVG.

Is JPEG to SVG the same as JPG to vector?

Yes. SVG is the most common vector format, so converting JPG to vector usually means producing an SVG.

Why does my traced JPG have lots of dots?

Those are JPEG compression artefacts. Increase Remove specks and lower Colour detail to eliminate them.

Can I get an EPS or AI file?

Download the SVG and open it in Illustrator or Inkscape, then save as EPS, AI or PDF.
