How it works

How to use the PNG to SVG Converter

  1. Drop your PNGs

Add one PNG or a whole icon set. Transparent PNGs work best.

  2. Choose a preset

Logo for flat icons, Illustration for multi-colour art, Line art for black and white.

  3. Download SVG

Save each SVG or download them all as a ZIP.

Why BGFixer

Built for real work, not just demos

Tuned for this job

Opens with the best preset already selected, with live preview as you adjust.

Bulk conversion

Convert a whole folder with one setting and download every SVG in a ZIP.

Cut-machine ready

Cutout layering gives non-overlapping paths for Cricut, Silhouette and lasers.

Private

Tracing runs in your browser with WebAssembly — nothing is uploaded.

A real PNG to SVG conversion — not a wrapper

Many "PNG to SVG" converters simply embed your PNG inside an SVG file. It has the .svg extension, but it is still pixels and still blurs when scaled. BGFixer traces the image into genuine vector paths that you can recolour, edit node by node, and scale to any size.

Best results for PNG files

PNGs are ideal tracing sources because they are lossless — there are no JPEG artefacts to clean up.

  • Use the largest PNG you have; more pixels means smoother curves.
  • Icons and logos: Logo preset with low Colour detail.
  • Screenshots of UI: keep Remove specks low so small details survive.
  • Need a cut file? Set Layering to Cutout for Cricut and laser software.

Frequently asked questions

Does the SVG keep the PNG's transparency?

Yes. Transparent areas are not traced, so the SVG has a transparent background just like the original PNG.

Is this a real vector or an embedded image?

A real vector. The output contains only path shapes, with no embedded bitmap, so it scales infinitely and is fully editable.

Can I convert many PNGs to SVG at once?

Yes. Drop multiple PNGs, adjust settings on one, click Trace all and download every SVG in a ZIP.

Is there a file size limit?

No hard limit. Very large images are scaled to 2400px on the longest side before tracing to keep it fast — vectors scale back up losslessly.
