How to Upscale an Image Without Losing Quality

October 19, 2026 · 2 min read

Stretching a small image in a normal editor just makes the pixels bigger and blurrier. AI upscaling is different: a neural network predicts the missing detail, producing sharper edges and textures.

When AI upscaling helps most

  • Old or low-resolution photos
  • Images downloaded from social media
  • Small product shots that need to fill a listing
  • Artwork that needs a higher resolution for printing

How to upscale

  1. Open the AI upscaler.
  2. Choose 2× for most photos, 4× for tiny images and icons.
  3. Drop your images and click Upscale.
  4. Drag the comparison slider to check detail, then download the PNG.

The model runs on your device's GPU — no queue, no credits and no upload.

Upscale or vectorize?

Image type Best approach
Photos, textures, people AI upscale
Logos, icons, text, flat art Vectorize — infinitely sharp
AI-generated stickers Upscale first, then vectorize

Preparing for print

After upscaling, set the file to 300 DPI with the DPI changer. See our full guide on converting images to 300 DPI.

Limits to know

Upscaling can't recover detail that was never captured: a face that is a few pixels wide won't become a sharp portrait. For best results, start from the cleanest version of the image you have.
