AI image generators produce raster images — usually 1024 or 2048 pixels wide. That's fine for social media but useless for a T-shirt print, a vinyl decal or a logo. Converting AI art into a vector unlocks print-on-demand, cut files and branding.
Prompt for something traceable
The cleaner the image, the cleaner the vector. Add these words to your prompt:
- flat vector illustration, sticker style, clip art
- bold outlines, solid colors, limited palette
- no gradients, no shading, no texture
- white background or isolated on white
Example: cute cartoon fox mascot, flat vector style, bold black outline, 4 colors, no gradients, isolated on white background
Upscale before you trace
AI output often has soft edges. Running it through the AI upscaler at 2× gives the tracer more pixels to find crisp outlines.
Remove the background
Even a "white background" has noise. Cut it out with the background remover so only your subject is traced.
Trace
In the image to vector converter:
- Flat sticker styles → Logo or Illustration preset
- Line-art prompts → Line art preset
- Painterly art → Photo preset, then reduce Colour detail
Download the SVG, or Copy SVG into Figma for final tweaks.
